I was going through some old photos for a little home project I’m working on and I was delighted to find so many photos that are even more special to me now that the subject is older and on to a new phase. This one I fell in love with because of that sweet giggle (and crazy hair) on daddy’s shoulder.

August 23, 2011For our weekly photography challenge, we were to photograph something using a shallow depth of field. I found this explanation online and couldn’t think of a better way to describe it, so I am quoting here:
‘Depth of Field or DOF for short is a description of how much of your photograph is in focus. A shallow depth of field simply means that one specific area of your photo is tack sharp while other elements remain blurred.’
I decided to take my boys out for a mini photoshoot…shooting wide open. I did have all three of the boys with me, but the youngest was a bit distracted by the playground that was close to the field we were shooting at. Hence, I photographed two out of the three. My oldest will be turning 9 in just a few weeks and when I looked at these images, I couldn’t help but notice how much he is growing up. Our last year of single digits!

May 25, 2011I love the ad campaign used by California Closets. Using the slogan, life lives here., they showcase a closet and give a bit of the background on the person to whom the closet belongs. Each time I see one of their new ads in my home decor magazines, it reinforces to me that we all have our stories and indeed life does live inside each of our homes, our closets, our backyards, etc. As a photographer and a mama, I hope to capture more of the ordinary moments of life with my camera, so I have decided to use the life lives here slogan and showcase some of the mundane, but oh so beautiful moments in my life and the lives of my children.
rainbow.
That was our theme for this week’s photographic journey that I am partaking with 17 fellow photographers. You can see this post to learn more about this year-long project if you are interested. I decided to photograph my middle son, Luke, who is really taking an interest in drawing and creating. And who doesn’t love to draw a rainbow on a dreary spring day?
Now head on over to the fabulous South Wyoming newborn, child and family photographer, Kate, to see her interpretation of this theme.

April 15, 2011This week my fellow photographers and I that are taking this year-long photographic journey were challenged to photograph money. And, it was a special week for us as this little guy lost his first tooth. The Tooth Fairy must have been really excited that he lost his first tooth because she left him $5.00. This little boy was very happy indeed!
Now, you can enjoy seeing what the other photographers in this group photographed for the money theme. Here is a link to the fabulous, Shea!
I love black and white photography, so this week’s theme for myself and the 17 other photographers on this year-long photo journey was perfect. My sweet middle son and I had a little photo shoot the other day.
He is my prince.
I love him so.
If you enjoy black and white photography as much as I do, you will love to see what the other photographers in our group captured this week. You can begin by visiting the fabulous, Sarah.
We picked up our sweet puppy on Saturday and it has been a spectacular weekend here for us. The boys just love their new doggie and I am thrilled to have another girl in the house, even if she is a girl puppy. We named her Maisy…her full name is Maisy Daisy Deakin. She is slowly getting used to her crate and going potty outdoors, but she has already brought us tons of joy. We are in love!
