It’s Friday again and this week my  fellow photographer friends and I were challenged to take a whimsy photo.  According to the dictionary, whimsy means playfully quaint or fanciful behavior or humor. I dug through my archives for photos for this theme since I seem to be consumed by all things Christmas right now. And finding these photos was so fun. Over the summer, the boys found a toad and we brought it into the house and had a mini photo shoot with him. This poor toad had no idea what he was in for in our house!

So, this week our theme was strangers. It was easy to procrastinate because it can be somewhat daunting to go up to a total stranger and ask if you can photograph them. And then today, I had the idea to go to my favorite coffee shop aka Starbucks and photograph either a couple or two women conversing over coffee. So, I pull into the parking lot and notice there are very few cars in the lot. I grab my camera bag and head inside to find one older gentlemen with headphones on working very diligently (not really the look I was hoping for) and a college student on the telephone. I couldn’t believe it.  I never walk into Starbucks in the middle of the afternoon without it being totally crowded. So, I decided to go with it and photographed the baristas in action!

This Friday we are still in the spirit of Thanksgiving and photographing our thankfulness.

I am thankful for the health of myself and my family.

I am thankful that I am a mother and I get to spend my days with my children, watching them grow and change.

I am thankful for photography and that it allows me to live my life with passion and creativity.

I am thankful that I live in a country filled with opportunity and freedom.

I am thankful, for I am richly blessed.

Where do the weeks go? It’s Friday once again and this week we were to photograph shapes. As I walking to a store in a plaza the other day, I saw all of these cool leaves in different patterns on the ground and I thought how cool they would look as a heart shape.  So, I scooped some up and did some rearranging.

And, then a little guy wanted in on the fun too, so he joined the leaves for a photo…

It’s Friday again and that means another installment of our 52 on Friday project. This week our theme was to photograph something related to a favorite song or album cover. I decided to create my own version of the infamous U2 WAR album cover. Here it is:

It’s Friday and that means a new theme for our photography circle. This week we were to photograph shadows. Shadows are very fun to play with. The kids & I  like to make shadows on the wall when we head upstairs for bed. For this image, we played with a wrinkled sheet hung over the ironing board. This giraffe proved to be a great subject to photograph!

We are thinking pink this week in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last year at this time, I had two friends fighting a battle against breast cancer and I am happy to report that both are doing remarkably well! Thank the Lord! This fight agains breast cancer is a fight we are all a part of.

It’s Friday and this week we were challenged to photograph lines. Although my image is from my archives, I chose to use it because I have a thing for lines and fences in particular. I love how they guide the eye and this fence is one I see quite often as it is right near our church and the boys’ school.

Happy Friday!  For this week, our theme is reflection. Hmmm…so many fun ways to interpret this word. I decided that I wanted me in the reflection. I had a vision in my head of my reflection in the viewfinder of one of my vintage Argus cameras. I set everything up and got the camera ready and then jumped into position with my sweet girl, Maisy and had my babysitter snap some photos. Despite a few focus issues, we were finally able to get one that works.  So this is me…reflected in a camera.
