williamsville, ny photographer

As photographers, our goal is typically to capture crisp, focused images, but once in a while it can be a good thing to break the rules. This month, my fellow group of photographers and myself challenged ourselves to take a portrait that was out-of-focus. My images are not typical portraits in that the subject’s face is not seen, but it still captures the essence of this moment: a sign of hope in the midst of the dreariness of winter. In the top image I manually controlled the focus and made it blurry; the second image was taken with my Lensbaby. I don’t use it very often, but each time I do, I realize how fun it is to take photos with.

To continue through our circle of photographers and see their OOF images, you can begin my visiting the amazingly talented, Jessica Holden. Her work is incredible and always so inspiring.
